I would like to remind everyone that I’m part of a collaboration blog that’s all about self-love. We’re a group of girls that feel empowered by sharing photos of our bodies and encourage anyone who feels the same to submit to The Amateur Hour Collective. I suffered for a really long time with intense hatred for myself and the way I looked. My boobs were too small, thighs too big, and scars too many. (The list goes on, trust me.) I still do sometimes get down on the way I look, but not like I have in the past. I have made the choice to feel good about myself. Realised that my boobs are the right size for my body, that my thighs add lovely curves, and that my scars will heal. Everyone deserves to love and accept themselves right where they are in this journey that we are experiencing together. Things do get better even if we can’t see that for our future. Our perception can do destructive things in our lives, or it can do wonderful things. Sometimes all you need is a change in the way you think. We weave for ourselves a trap of lies that we then live out, thanks to the media telling us how to be, the patriarchy telling us how to be, and our own consequent expectations. Love yourself! You are beautiful and courageous and kind. There is nothing wrong with admitting you have a fault, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still love yourself. Our bodies deserve to be loved, appreciated, adored. You don’t have to meet anyone’s expectations of how to look. Embrace what’s good, what’s best, and what’s true to you. Embrace yourself, and be free.
